My final Observation
I believe that with any worthwhile experience there is its good side and its bad, its high points and its lows, its disappoints and its rewards. However, usually, the total overall experience is often expressed, summarized or finalized in favor of one or the other. After nineteen years as a Welding Teacher I will choose to express my tenure in a Good news / Bad news format:Arriving in February of 1986, I brought to this position over twenty five continuous years of valuable industrial experience. My industrial experiences started with six years in the military and continued from small job shops, to the shipyard, and on to one of the worlds largest an most successful corporation.
Virtually, all of my prior occupational experience was concentrated in the field of welding, welding inspection, welding technology, welding certification, welder training. Therefore, coming into this teaching position, I felt extremely confident that one of my strong points would be my knowledge of the subject matter. And now, looking back over the past nineteen years, the experience I brought was more critical than I had initially imagined it would be.
